Postcards arriving soon, agents!

The front of the postcard

The front of the postcard

If you’re a real estate agent with a profile on our site, then you can look forward to receiving in the mail (if you haven’t already) a package of postcards.

What are these postcards for?
Well, if you have a profile on our site, then you already know that we strongly encourage you “manage your reputation before it manages you.” These postcards wil help with that.

The idea is that you can take the postcards, hand them out to your clients when you close on a deal with them (or run into them in Starbucks) and simply ask them to review you on the site —- the postcard is their reminder to do so.

What’s on the postcard?
The front is the bright card you see here. The back is a message that:

  • Thanks the client for choosing to work with you
  • Tells them about
  • Invites them to rate you to tell you what you did right and if you need a little improvement in an area
  • Lists out the steps to take to rate you

There’s also space at the bottom of the card where you can sign your name or place your business stamp.

Hope these cards help! We know it can be challenging to work up the nerve to ask for a review/recommendation from a client, so hopefully these cards will help make it a little easier. (Handing over something may help? At least it keeps your hands busy and gives them something to look at instead of just staring blankly at you. 🙂 )

Did you see us at the EREB tradeshow?

Scarlett at the What Customers Say tradeshow booth

Scarlett at the What Customers Say tradeshow booth

Well, the big day has come and gone. Today, from 10am to 4pm, hosted a booth at the Edmonton Real Estate Board annual tradeshow.

We had a great turn-out, with lots of real estate agents asking lots of questions. Here are the approximate numbers:

– 100+ agents picked up 5+ postcards each to hand out to their clients (solicit reviews) and/or “stopped by”
– 75+ agents entered their business cards in our draw for a TomTom GPS system
– 25+ agents either set up profiles or “showed great interest” in the site

One agent even invited us to give a presentation at her brokerage (?!) — or her real estate office — in the near future. That’s pretty cool.

Who’s that at the booth?
Since 2 of us at don’t live in Edmonton and the other 2 have ‘regular’ day jobs, we asked our self-employed family members to step in to help out. 🙂 So, that’s Scarlett in the photo — she’s Steven’s wife — and Paul, my younger (yes, Paul, you’re younger) brother, manned the booth, too. Soooo cool of them to give up their whole day to help out.

Now… how to thank them. No idea! But we’re very, very grateful. Kudos to Scarlett and Paul for their awesomeness.

How can you get the info, postcards, etc. that attendees got?
Contact directly! One of the four of us will answer the phone to chat with you or get back to you via email.

Thanks to everyone who checked out our booth and our site. 🙂 Hope to see more of you in the future.

25 Edmonton agents now reviewed – are you one of them?

October 4, 2008

I know there are over 3000 real estate agents in the Edmonton, Alberta area… so having reviews for only 25 agents doesn’t seem like that much.

But consider that we’ve only just launched our site in beta mode a little over a month ago. Consider that we’ve been working out a lot of the kinks (having to turn all instances of the trademarker “realtor” word into “real estate agent” or “agent” sure took up a lot of time! 🙂 ). Consider that we’ve simplified our process. Consider that we’ve learned that people aren’t that motivated to review if we’re ‘only’ donating $1 per review and that it’s worth testing a better reward, like a $100-every-ten-days reward for posting a very helpful review.

Consider that we’re learning at a crazy speed. And we’re big on improving. We work almost non-stop — and we’re GOING TO MAKE THIS SITE WORK. 🙂

And we believe in the value of real estate agents. No shiza here. We’re actually here to match great agents with great new clients.

And soon we’ll actually start marketing our site. 🙂 And we’ll send out press releases.

What great agent wouldn’t want to be involved in this site? Really? Especially once we start adding in more of the tools our current agents are asking for, like more space to include listings.

(there’s even a free trial. it’s supposed to be a 60-day trial… but it looks like it might run longer than that, while we’re in beta mode. we’ll see. 🙂 )

Yay! More leads for our agents!!!

October 4, 2008

So, we haven’t even started marketing our site as a “find a real estate agent” site yet ‘cos we’ve only got just over 50 reviews……… but we’ve been very lucky to have people find us organically and, in turn, find a few of our top-rated real estate agents.

And now several of our top agents have got leads. We know this because we track “contact this agent” clicks with Google Analytics, and we’re also emailed when a searcher initiates contact with one of our agents via our on-site email form. (Sounds like gobbledy gook, but it makes sense to the agents who’ve now got leads!)

We’ve received several emails this week alone telling us that a person has initiated contact with an agent they’d like to work with.

How cool is that?! 🙂 I loooooooove to see this site when it actually works for people. I mean, reviews are cool —- but connecting buyers/sellers with proven agents is… wicked awesome.

Are you a new agent?
This site is ready to work for you. Just drive your customers there, ask them to leave you a review (‘cos it only takes 2 minutes) —- and then wait for the leads to come in. Yes, just wait. Your customer service will actually start to work for you.

And set up a profile. Plus, feature a listing. (We’re going to let you feature more listings than one in the future — but give it some time!)
